The Peru: Ninth International Gold Symposium will take place
in Lima on May 18 to 20, 2010.
GFMS Chairman, Philip Klapwijk, will be presenting the Overview
of the Global Precious Metals Markets on Tuesday May 18th.
About the event
This event is organized by the Gold Committee of the
National Society of Mining, Oil and Energy of Peru and its main
objective is to disseminate information about Peru's and other Latin
American countries' abundance in gold resources, as well as promote
new investment and business opportunities in the region. Also in
this edition the Symposium will include other precious metals such
as silver.
Under the motto: "Precious Metals: A Challenge
for the Industry", in this ninth edition we will emphasis the
importance of the different uses of gold and silver in the industry.
Also the event will be a superb occasion to gather information about
new projects in the region, markets and price outlook and an overall
vision of their influence on the world's economy.
Peru has consolidated its
leading position as gold producer
¢ Peru's production accounts for 7.7% of the world's gold production,
and at present the country ranks 6th among the world's largest gold
producers. Peru is the first gold producer of Latin America.
¢ Also in 2008, gold exports accounted for 17% of total exports of
Peru.
¢ According to U.S. Geological Survey, Peru represents 8.3% of the
worldwide gold reserves, occupying the third position as a nation
with the largest gold reserves after South Africa and Australia.
Ideal meeting point
The Peru: Ninth International Gold Symposium will gather more than
1000 participants -including the highest-level entrepreneurs, investors,
executives and professionals related mainly to gold mining activities,
as well as government officials of the sector representatives, analysts,
and executives of renowned suppliers of goods and services that
are essential for the mining industry.
Topics of the agenda
Distinguished professionals will offer an overall view
of gold mining in Peru and Latin America, which will be supplemented
with an update of the most important advances accomplished in the
sciences of gold exploration, production and others. Conferences
will address different topics of great interest, such as:
¢ Gold and Silver market overview and perspectives
¢ New operations in the region
¢ Geologic discoveries and new projects in Latin America
¢ Gold uses.
2010 Mining Exhibit
As in the past symposiums, the traditional Mining Exhibit will
take place concurrently with the conferences, and its booths will
be excellent showcases to allow visitors become acquainted with
the new products offered by suppliers of mining goods and services,
particularly for gold mining.
